A Rare Gem in Guatemala
Guatemala is for the girlies who love to adventure!
Like most people, before I travel, I do a cursory research into accommodations, maybe get a recommendation or two, but nothing heavy.
After all, both planning and spontaneity are part of the adventure!
With this being said, imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon this Google Gem and experienced a stay that not only deserves to be shared but exceeded my expectations too!
The Hotel Museo Casa Santo Domingo in Antigua may have a long name but it’s a place that left me longing for more. A former convent turned hotel, museum, (and spa!) the property is a wanderer's daydream of religious art, water features, exotic plants, and ancient fixtures.
There were preserved skeletal remains, a 15th century kitchen, and for all of my spooky girlies - hundreds of porcelain baby dolls.
Underground crypts, two cathedrals, and winding staircases that either ascended or descended out of sight challenged me to get my cardio on while also capturing the rare beauty of this hotel.
Much of the hotel and museum were closed due to COVID restrictions and even with these boundaries, I still got lost in what I could access. Trust me when I say you need at least a week here.
All in all, if you’re looking for a place to stay that’s both rare and affordable, this is it…And the screaming parrots were a nice touch.
